About Best-ReMaP

Best-ReMaP is a Europe-wide Joint Action that seeks to contribute to an improved quality of food supplied to citizens of Europe by facilitating the exchange and testing of good practices concerning:

  1. the monitoring and analysis of how the food that people consume changes at the European and national level
  2. the regulations on the marketing of food and beverages to children and
  3. the procurement of food by public bodies for educational institutions, social care facilities, etc.

The information provided below are coming from the Joint Action's website https://bestremap.eu/.

Best-ReMaP is coordinated by National Institute of Public Health, Slovenia.

Processed Food monitoring and reformulation

Best-ReMaP aims to share and promote best practices on how to implement a sustainable European monitoring system for processed food reformulation; to provide data for identifying best formulations and room for reformulation; and to provide data to establish, evaluate and adapt nutrition policies. Food marketing

Best-ReMaP aims to identify, develop and share best policy practices to reduce exposure of children to the marketing of unhealthy foods; to develop harmonised protocols and tools to monitor the extent and nature of marketing exposure of children; and to support Member States with the implementation of the new EU rules on audiovisual media services. Procurement of nutritious food in public institutions

Best-ReMaP aims to support the establishment of an intersectoral working group in the participating Member States; to increase the overall understanding, knowledge and skills regarding public procurement of food/food products in selected public institutions; to enable more choice of quality foodstuffs for balanced menus in selected public institutions; and to recommend further institutionalised implementation of the public procurement procedures for quality foods across EU states.
